ATTENTION: Gentle Chiropractic Care for MumS & bubs

Support Your Body through Pregnancy and Beyond

Chiropractic care during pregnancy supports your body as it adapts to the physical and hormonal changes of growing a baby. As your body carries extra weight, it’s common to experience tension and discomfort in the neck, back, and pelvis — areas we gently support to improve comfort and movement. By helping your nervous system stay balanced and your body better aligned, care may also contribute to a smoother, more comfortable birth experience and support a more efficient post-partum recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?

Absolutely. Chiropractic care during pregnancy is gentle, safe, and can help support pelvic alignment, reduce back and hip discomfort, and prepare your body for birth. Adjustments are always tailored to your stage of pregnancy and comfort level.

Can babies and children see a chiropractor?

Yes. Chiropractic care for infants and children uses extremely gentle techniques designed for their growing bodies. It may help support sleep, feeding, posture, and overall development while ensuring their nervous system is functioning optimally.

Is chiropractic care safe for babies?

Yes. Infant chiropractic uses extremely gentle, age-appropriate techniques with light pressure— often no more than you’d use to check a tomato.

Can chiropractic help with breastfeeding difficulties?

Tension in a baby’s neck, jaw, or upper spine can sometimes affect latch. A gentle assessment may help support more comfortable feeding.

Can chiropractic help with infant reflux or colic?

While every child is different, many parents report improvements in comfort, digestion, and settling after chiropractic care.

How can chiropractic help during pregnancy?

Chiropractic may help relieve back pain, pelvic pain, sciatica, rib discomfort, and support optimal pelvic and spinal function as your body changes.

Can chiropractic help prepare the body for labour?

Balanced pelvic alignment can support nervous system function and improve comfort, which may help the body work more efficiently leading into labour.

When during pregnancy can I see a chiropractor?

Anytime - from first trimester through to late pregnancy. Care is always adapted to your stage and comfort.

Can chiropractic help with pelvic girdle pain or SPD?

Yes. Gentle adjustments and soft-tissue work may help improve mobility, reduce tension, and support better pelvic stability.

Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?

Chiropractic adjustments are generally gentle and comfortable. Most people feel a sense of relief or lightness afterwards. Techniques used at Unwind Chiropractic and Wellness are tailored to your comfort level and are designed to restore movement, reduce tension, and support nervous system balance.

Are chiropractic adjustments safe?

Yes. Chiropractic care is safe and effective when performed by a qualified practitioner. Dr Tayla uses low-force, specific adjustments suited to each patient’s needs, always ensuring comfort and safety.

What can I expect during my first chiropractic visit?

Your first visit is all about understanding you and your health goals. Dr Tayla will take a detailed history, discuss your current symptoms, and perform a thorough spinal and neurological assessment. If chiropractic care is suitable, she’ll explain her findings and begin gentle, individualised care to help you feel at ease from the very start.

Do I need a referral to see a Chiropractor?

No referral is needed. You can book directly with Dr Tayla at Unwind Chiropractic and Wellness. However, referrals from GPs or other practitioners are always welcome if part of a shared care approach.

Do you accept private health insurance?

Yes. Chiropractic care is covered under most private health funds. You can claim on the spot through HICAPS, making the process quick and easy.

How many sessions will I need?

Every person and every spine is unique. The number of sessions depends on your individual goals, how long the issue has been present, and how your body responds to care. Dr Tayla will discuss a personalised care plan with you after your initial assessment to ensure you’re supported each step of the way.

Why we are different?

Dr Tayla uses a technique called Neural Organisation Technique (NOT).

NOT is a gentle, neuroscience-based chiropractic approach that focuses on identifying and correcting imbalances within the nervous system — the body’s master control system. Developed by Dr. Carl Ferreri, NOT looks at how well the brain and body are communicating and adapting to physical, chemical, and emotional stress. When this communication is disrupted, it can affect key survival systems including the fight/flight response, immune function, digestion, and hormonal balance — all of which are especially important during pregnancy and early development.

Using a combination of precise spinal, cranial, and reflex-based corrections, NOT works to “reorganise” the body’s neurological patterns. Rather than just addressing symptoms, this approach identifies the underlying stress responses stored in the nervous system and helps shift the body from a state of tension and overload into one of regulation and healing. The adjustments are extremely gentle, making them safe and suitable for pregnant women, newborns, and children.

During pregnancy, a mother’s nervous system plays a vital role in supporting both her own body and her growing baby. Stress, physical strain, and postural changes can impact how the body adapts throughout each stage. NOT helps support better nervous system balance, which may contribute to improved comfort, more efficient adaptation to physical changes, and overall wellbeing throughout pregnancy.

For babies and children, the nervous system is still developing and highly responsive to stress — whether from birth, growth, or environmental factors. NOT helps support optimal neurological development by improving communication between the brain and body. This can assist with regulation, sleep, digestion, immune function, and overall adaptability as they grow.

Because NOT is highly individualised, each session is tailored to the specific needs of the individual — whether that’s a mum navigating pregnancy or a child developing and adapting to the world. The goal is to create a more balanced, resilient nervous system, allowing the body to function, grow, and heal the way it was designed to.
